from london, southampton, portsmouth

FROM LONDON -  SOUTHAMPTON - PORTSMOUTH
TO BOURNEMOUTH BY CAR:

Driving time from West London:

Between 1½ - 2 hours.

Practically the entire journey is either dual carriageway or motorway and is a very easy and uncomplicated drive.

M3 (found at Hammersmith) – 40 minutes drive to the  M27 sign-posted Southampton – Winchester – Bournemouth.

After about 30 minutes the  M27 turns into the A31 and as you pass RINGWOOD bare left onto the A338 – well sign-posted to Bournemouth.     8 - 10miles further on;- Eventually the signs will reduce your speed to 50mph and welcome you to Bournemouth  with big signs indicating that there are speed cameras ahead ( some welcome - huh ???)

At that point  you will go OVER A FLY-OVER;- then you go UNDER A FLY-OVER until you reach a large  ROUNDABOUT with a huge ASDA on the left corner. Turn left there as you go around the roundabout,  and go along St. Paul’s Road keeping Asda and the stations on your left until you come to  another roundabout, which is only about a 1 minute drive between roundabouts.  Straight across onto St. Swithen’s Road to a further roundabout, also only a 1 minute drive. TURN LEFT onto CHRISTCHURCH ROAD and drive straight ahead.

The 6th  left hand turning in Hamilton Road.  Turn into Hamilton Road and the first turning on the right - just a couple of hundred yards up, is Hamilton Hall on the corner of Carysfort Road.

From the Asda Roundabout, – it is a 4 minute drive

from central bournemouth

FROM CENTRAL BOURNEMOUTH

If you are in central Bournemouth, drive past BOURNEMOUTH PIER with the pier on your right.

Pass the Royal Bath Hotel on your right and turn right just after it, up a steepish hill. This brings you onto the cliff top. Keep going all the way along the cliff top as far as you can – just follow the road and it will eventually bare left and end at a T junction. Turn right and this will take you to a set of traffic lights. Turn right again. About ¼ of a mile further on, at the top of the hill, Hamilton Road is on the left. Turn into Hamilton Road, drive up - and the 1st right hand turning – which is just a couple of hundred yards along Hamilton Road, is Carysfort Road and HAMILTON HALL is on the corner.

From Bournemouth Pier it should only be a  10 - 15 minute drive.

..It's not the journey - it's the arriving, and we wish you a safe and pleasant journey however you travel, be it by train, coach, car, bike, magic carpet or even broom stick.  .Turn your volume down, keep calm, play some games if you get bored,  open the window and get some fresh air, stop for coffee breaks every hour,  chew gum - which is said to be better than having a coffee,   pay attention to the road ahead,  don't put one finger up at other drivers,  signal when overtaking or turning - switch your lights on if raining, however light,   and
BE SEEN BY OTHERS - be nice - and most importantly -
enjoy your journey as it is part of your time away from home.
