About our cause

Peter Tatchell Foundation provides a much loved and valued service for the community.

Peter Tatchell has been campaigning for human rights and social justice for 56 years. Best known for his work promoting and defending LGBT rights, he was a pioneer of the Gay Liberation Front in the 1970s, co-founded the direct action group OutRage! in 1990, and helped spearhead the campaign for same-sex marriage. His work is being progressed and expanded through his role as Director of the Peter Tatchell Foundation, which campaigns for human rights across the world.

We need your help so we can continue to campaign for LGBT+ rights.

Like many small charities, the Peter Tatchell Foundation is facing significant financial pressure. We’re a frugal bunch, always mindful of how we spend every penny – because we have to be.

Our survival and success rely on the incredible generosity of supporters like you. This year, we’re tackling sportswashing, corporate homophobia, and the historic police witch-hunting of LGBT+ people.

One of our most positive developments has been the Rainbow Lottery. It’s a fantastic way to support our work – and dozens of other LGBT+ charities across the UK. For every £1 ticket you buy, 50p goes directly to the PTF, and another 10p supports other LGBT+ causes.

There’s a top prize of £25,000 and much better odds than the National Lottery!

The Rainbow Lottery makes no profit and is run by a brilliant team of volunteers.

Hamilton Hall and The Peter Tatchell Foundation are not connected in any way. I admire the work undertaken over the decades by Peter Tatchell and the advances achieved that the LGBT community take for granted these days but many are unaware of the fights undertaken to get us this far in law. Peter and his foundation have been centre in this for some decades and we all - WE ALL - owe him a MASSIVE THANKYOU for all he has undertaken.
