URGENT: LGBT+ people in India need this shelter

When I was a kid, I loved playing football and boxing, but my friends and family wouldn't let me.

They said it was just for boys. I knew I was a boy and wished they could see that. I wanted to run away from home, but had nowhere safe to turn to. At my lowest moments, I considered suicide.

When I finally realised that I'm not a girl, I'm a transgender guy, it seemed like no one understood or accepted me. My neighbours called me dirty names. My family was cruel.

That's where an LGBT+ organisation called Ya_All came in. Ya_All has been bringing together LGBT+ youth for years now. They're even starting India's first ever football team for trans men like me!

But most importantly, they run an LGBT+ shelter – one that I wish I had when I was younger. They provide lifesaving housing for young LGBT+ people throughout Manipur, where I live.

Demand for this LGBT+ shelter increased so much since the pandemic and now their funds are running dangerously low! Ya_All is on the verge of shutting down.

The lockdowns in India were some of the most severe in the world. Many people were left without the critical medications, food, or housing we needed.

But Ya_All distributed HIV medication and food, provided a safe place to stay, and psychological support to so many LGBT+ people in need. And since then, they haven't slowed down, because we still desperately need their support.
