Why do so many think Trump supporters are stupid ?

If I tell you I voted for Trump, what do you think I support? Be brutally honest.

Brutally honest? In my opinion every Trump voter falls into three categories, Rich, Racist or Rubes.

Rich people: I get it. If my sole goal was to get the highest score in life then I too would vote for the person who will cut my taxes or give my companies big fat government contracts. Of course this means you’d have to be ok with a lot people suffering but if your plan was to stop being just obscenely wealthy to swimming in a swimming pool full of gold coins like cartoon character wealthy then the welfare of other people isn’t a concern. Unlike the other groups this one does have a strict requirement. If you aren’t making a minimum of at least $250k a year, you don’t qualify. In fact if you think you are part of this group and don’t meet the minimum threshold you instantly are in the third group.

Racist people: If you hate minorities Trump is your man. No other politician in the last quarter century has cater to this group so much. The GOP has always had its racist dog whistles But Trump said “screw subtlety where’s my bullhorn”. If you are tired of not being able to wear your white sheet out in public Trump is your best shot at making that a norm. I would also lump the misogynist in here too. The point is you didn’t vote for Trump to make things better, you voted for him to make things worse for people you don’t like.

Rubes: This is more of a catch all group. If you don’t belong to either the rich or racist group you definately belong in the rube category. This ranges from something as minor as you are an uninformed voter and just took everything Trump said at face value to the Fox News brain rot crowd. None of Trump’s policies will benefit the working class and in fact many of them will hurt them. I am doubling down on the “Biden didn’t perfectly handle X issue so I voted for Trump” or “egg are too expensive” voters as being especially big rubes. Not a single one of those issues did Trump have a legit plan to solve the problem. In fact many of his “solutions” just make it worse. Not sure how forcing Americans to pay a tariff on produce is going to reduce grocery prices.

Every Trump voters falls into one of these categories; the rich assholes who are only out for themselves, people in hate groups and people voting against their own best interest.

What you don't get, Trump supporters, is that our succumbing to frustration and shaking our heads, thinking of you as stupid, may very well be wrong and unhelpful, but it's also... hear me... charitable.

Because if you're NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering.
